Seasonal Check up for Your Furnace

Seasonal Check up for Your Furnace

Winter is just around the corner and that is when HVAC companies get flooded with calls the first time the temperature takes a dip.  As soon as a homeowner starts their furnace for the first time, that’s when the find out there’s a problem….it’s a big problem when the furnace isn’t working.  If you have your furnace maintained regularly by a professional it wouldn’t have to be that way.  Your furnace will deliver you heat when you need it the most.  Furnace maintenance should be a regular part of your over home maintenance plan.

Regardless of what type of fuel your furnace burns be it wood, coal, gas or oil, they all combust so your burners need to be checked.  You will also need to check the heat exchanger and the vent systems.  If your system isn’t properly maintained you can have a build of carbon monoxide, which is deadly to you and your family.  Even low exposure can cause headaches, nausea, chest pains and vomiting.  If your burner and vent systems malfunction you can get carbon monoxide in your home.

Don’t Void Your Warranty

It is always advisable to call in an HVAC expert for all the maintenance of the furnace, be it domestic or commercial, rather than doing it by yourself. The engineers and experts of this will make sure to check everything over to make sure every part of your furnace works properly and everything is getting proper ventilation and running efficiently.

Each model of furnace has their own guidelines that must be adhered to so your warranty stays intact.  This another reason you should never try and fix the furnace yourself.  HVAC pros know what needs to be done for your model of furnace and they are accredited to work on your heating system.  Here’s a video showing you what you can expect from a furnace inspection.

Finding the Right HVAC Company

You can check online to find the right HVAC company that is nearby.  After you find an HVAC company check sites like Angie’s List and Yelp along with Google to see the reviews that other customers have left.  See if other customers were satisfied with the work that they have done in the past.

Check with friends and neighbors to see if the have any recommendations for you.  Have they had work done that they were pleased with, on the other hand is there anyone they would warn you to stay away from.
